I’m on a roll today! I teach a communication graphics course in the advertising department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. A couple weeks ago in class we talked about typography and everything that goes along with it. Here are some quick tips from Ilene Strizver, one of the gurus of typography:
I am working on a master’s degree in marketing, communications, and advertising at the University of Nebraksa-Lincoln. One of the projects from this summer’s class is a campaign for a new downtown shuttle for Lincoln. I will post more after we present it to the client later this week but here’s the logo and a sample of a teaser billboard. We’re not quite finished with everything but so far has been a very fun project to be appart of, specifically the creative side.
Tablets for your computer is something I have messed around with but has been on my wishlist for years….wacom has a special edition out they are pushing. Check it out:
Being a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals you see other people’s portfolios and this is one that caught my eye. Rebecca Parker has created some great photo illustrations.
So at work I have one of the new 24″ iMacs. I am not a huge Mac person nor PC for that matter (I like both if that is allowed), but here’s what I think of this computer….
With that said, I love this computer! Huge screen, fast, easy to navigate….etc…etc….
PROS:
Huge screen
Cool design
the mouse is awesome, it has a scroll “ball” instead of a wheel and left and right click can be turned on
the keyboard is nice, I do a lot of graphics work so keyboard shortcuts are easy with no keyboard noise
All inclusive, no tower = less cords
CONS:
The screen is glossy, which makes the colors bright and rich but the glare can be annoying
the keyboard, although nice for what I do it might take a little while to get use to typing on it
not sure if it is a big deal but the back gets pretty hot if I have it on all day
Amazing photography by a couple who had an exhibit at the Sheldon Art Gallery earlier this year. They have a slide show of their new work on there site. ParkeHarrison Website
These technologys are going to be awesome for the web and interactivitiy, as well as browsing files on your own computer….it’s tied in with microsoft so hopefully they work on a universal version so everyone can use it…
The way I understand it is Photosynth links, searches and renders photos in a similar way that we hypertext does on regular websites. Using the Seadragon technology the products is a mash up of high res photos that create a 3d space.
check it out….if you have a pc you can try it out! sorry mac users:
