I have been learning Final Cut for work and put together this intro for a group presentation we did last month. I shot this with an HDV camera, edited in FC and exported an FLV.

So i do actually work on some freelance projects in my “spare time.” One is the Davis County Courthouse Preservation Fund. My home town has a courthouse they would like to take better care of so this group is working toward that and needs a website. Here’s where I am at now with it.
Process:
I started with some crappy sketches to get my bearings straight on what I wanted it to look like. It is a new organization so now corporate identity, logo, etc. So I went with a blues for a color because all the photos I had of the building included a nice blue sky, pretty original I know… The client and I then worked on a site map.
From there I turned my sketches into a proofs for the client to approve. My process was I made the proof in photoshop and sliced up the graphics I needed and combined everything in dreamweaver.
This is what we are going with at the moment, I plan to tweak the header graphic a bit. I am working right now on the CSS for the site and will be moving to the rest of the graphics for the site. Then when I get all the content I will dump it into the template I created and upload it.
I have put up my working draft on my site here. I will keep you updated…

Kathe Kollwitz is probably my favorite artist of all time. I love the high contrast she uses to produce these intense images. Here’s a link to her museum in Berlin.

An interesting development in the online community, second life, this article talks about some happenings in this area, Second Life and Google Link article from CNET. In my opinion a competitor will end up being the winner here, maybe not google but someone is going to come along with all the right answers. Similar to the history of the web browser google was not the first but has ended up the top of the heap.
